Protective Distribution System (PDS)

A Protective Distribution System (PDS) is required when the transmission of unencrypted classified national security information transverses unsecured locations. The National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Instruction No. 7003, (NSTISSI 7003) provides guidance for the protection of wireline and optical fiber Protective Distribution Systems. Global Com, Inc. is experienced, trained, and certified to design and install an approved PDS. Within NSTISSI 7003, three PDS options are offered:

• Hardened Carrier System
• Alarmed Carrier System
• Continuously Viewed Carrier System

Traditionally Hardened Carrier Systems are the most often deployed PDS option. The utility of the Hardened Carrier system is limited and has several disadvantages. Several factors are driving a demand for a better PDS solution. These include:

Rapid growth in the number of users who have a need to access classified networks such as JWICS, SIPRnet, and HSDN.

• Required re-certification of pre-existing network infrastructure
• The need to deliver secure connectivity fast to new SCIF buildouts.
• The increased use of fiber optic cabling as a means of transmitting information.

Global Com is proud to offer to our customers a superior PDS solution which utilizes the proprietary Interceptor™ Optical Network Security System by Network Integrity Systems (http://www.networkintegritysystems.com ). The Interceptor™ is an Alarmed Carrier PDS solution. As a certified installer of both the Interceptor™ product line and Air Blown Fiber (ABF), this solution provides the following advantages to our customers.
